HELLO, NEIGHBOUR!

The Strathcona Community Council is the citizen voice for the Strathcona neighbourhood, an area bounded by Queen Street to the east, Main Street to the south, the harbour to the north and Highway 403 to the west. If you live within these boundaries, you are a member of the council. Welcome to one of the best places to live in Hamilton!

Events and issues

The Strathcona Community Council is engaged with the neighbourhood and wants to encourage involvement from as many community members as possible. This is where we live! Our events are open to the public and often we seek volunteers and/or local businesses to support our efforts.

Meeting Agendas and Minutes

The Strathcona Community Council meets once a month and has an Annual General Meeting. Meeting agendas are posted five days before the meeting and minutes are posted as they are available, but prior to the next meeting.

Cool Things We’ve Done

Due to the longstanding commitment of many volunteers, the Strathcona Community Council has been operating since XXXX. Take a look at some of our past activities and consider getting involved!

Land Acknowledgement

We take this time to recognize that Strathcona is situated on the traditional territory of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Mississauga and Haudenosaunee. This land is shared between the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Anishinaabe nations as acknowledged in the Dish With One Spoon Wampum belt. That wampum uses the symbolism of a dish to represent the territory, and the one spoon to represent that the people are to share the resources of the land and take only what they need.
